What is the most dangerous drug in the world?

 Drug overdose is one of the most common causes of death, especially in USA. But actually, the most dangerous drugs are not the most lethal ones. Actually lethality of drugs is not the biggest harm which they cause, they may cause a lot of physical and psychological damage without killing the user. By using 16 parameters of how much harm does the most common recreational drugs cause, a group of experts in UK found out that the most dangerous drug to an individual is heroin. Heroin is one of the strongest and the most addictive opioids which by attaching to opioid receptors, create a surge of pleasurable sensations, that actually makes heroin so popular recreational drug. By its strong addictive properties, this substance can destroy the life of the addict, making them completely dependent. The user of heroin starts to feel intense withdrawal symptoms like insomnia, muscle and bone pain, and nausea just a few hours after using. 
But actually, by looking also at the harm that drugs place also on the others, the most dangerous drug overall is alcohol. Alcohol usage has wider consequences including physical and psychological harm, crime, degradation to families and communities, and also economic costs. Alcohol is the most often used drug in the world, which actually enlarges the harm of its usage. The World Health Organization found that actually, alcohol kills 1 person every 10 seconds, causing 3.3 million deaths across the world in 2012. Prohibition actually won't solve the problem, the most effective way to fight with alcohol and other drugs abuse is education and harm reduction.

    Is heroin still a popular drug? I thought it was in the 1980s when heroin users were the majority of drug addicts. There are probably cheaper and more easily available chemical substitutes now. And they are more dangerous as the unknown chemicals can destroy one's liver in just one go.
